UHI TARATARA POUTINI
The production of traditional tattooing tools using the ancient hard wood known as mairē and the healing and protective properties of Poutini (Pounamu) is not only beautiful to experience but once again gives insight into Te Ao Kōhatu (the world of stone) where our tipuna (ancestors) inherited many amazing gifts.
Though I do not put ink into skin, making these traditional pounamu tattooing tools brings alive once more the knowledge and experience that has been sleeping these past one hundred years.
Remember Pounamu creates movement,
