We treat mātauranga Māori (knowledge) as a taonga (treasure). While we value sharing, not all knowledge is meant for open platforms.
When certain knowledge is shared openly online, it can at times be taken out of context or misused.
we honour the deeper meanings behind our taonga pounamu (pendants) by sharing only the essential aspects of our taonga.
One of our main goal online is to present our taonga in a way that’s as if you were seeing it with your own eyes. Though challenging at times, this responsibility is important to us, as it upholds respect for both you, the kaiwhiwhi, and the pounamu.
